Insurance - Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland
The CPV/CAP Pension Fund Coop is the Coop Group's occupational pension fund. Today's pension fund was founded in 1909 by the Versicherungsanstalt Schweizerischer Konsumvereine (VASK) in the form of a disability insurance. It has been continuously expanded. A major milestone in 1985 was the introduction of the BVG compulsory insurance in Switzerland. After 100 years (2009), the legal form of the CPV/CAP Pension Fund Coop was changed from a cooperative to a foundation. We bear all risks ourselves and manage a large part of the assets in-house. We also own a well diversified real estate portfolio. Around 40 employees in the pension, investment, real estate and organizational areas contribute to the competent implementation of our performance targets. As a pension fund, we are aware of the great responsibility we bear in managing the assets entrusted to us. We manage assets worth over 10 billion CHF and look after around 58,000 insured persons (of whom around 20,000 are pensioners) of the Coop Group. This makes us one of the largest pension funds in Switzerland.
