The Craft & Design Collective is an independent non-profit-taking membership organisation formed in 1997 by Artist/Designer/Makers for Artist/Designer/Makers, to help raise the profile, and manage and facilitate the development of Craft, Applied Art & Design.The Craft and Design Collective: - owns and manages its own Shop/Gallery/Exhibition Area at Space CRAFT, a focal point for the commissioning, exhibition, promotion and sale of Craft, Applied Art & Design.- organises events that facilitate sales, networking, social contact and the sharing of information, experiences, knowledge and resources amongst the members and others, e.g. "Crafted" Craft Fair at Castle Ward, an Annual Exhibition designed to showcase high quality, innovative Craft, Applied Art & Design, an Annual Christmas Exhibition designed to make sales for the participants, a series of Seminars and an Annual Photography Scheme- has a website www.craftanddesigncollective.com that lists the contact details of all it's members and has an On-Line Gallery that enables members to have individual pages with text, images and links to other websites- has an Office/Information Library/Resource Centre at Space CRAFT- makes representations and lobbies on behalf of the Craft, Applied Art & Design Sector- co-operates with statutory bodies, local authorities, private and voluntary organisations whose objectives compliment those of the Craft & Design Collective
