Showcasing their work in the Gallery is one way the Guild promotes the work of exceptional craftsmen from 19 states. Demonstrations by Master Craftsmen take place on the grounds of the Center most weekends and classes are taught weekly. The Craft Center opened in June, 2007 and has since garnered the interest of world-wide travelers and regional visitors alike. More than 150,000 people attend Guild programs each year where they encounter working craftsmen and the results of their work. The Craft Center is an art gallery,a museum, an educational center, an art referral agency, an economic development tool and a community center. It is 20,000 sq. ft. and has available space for special event rentals. The Mississippi Craft Center is home to the Mississippi Craftsmen's Guild. It is not only for Mississippi artisians but is a place where artists from all over the nation meet to display, teach and learn from one another. It is where one can learn pottery,blacksmithing, or simple painting techniques. This is where the artist lover can come to enjoy the different art exhibits shown throughout the year and maybe even meet the artist themselves. The Craft Center is open 7 days a week, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with the exceptions of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, and Easter. The mission of the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi is to preserve, promote, market, educate, and encourage the highest standard of excellence in regional crafts.
