Crime Stoppers is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides a tip line resource for the public where tipsters can share information about crimes and other suspicious activity anonymously. Crime Stoppers rewards tipsters whose information leads to an arrest with a reward of up to $2,000. Every year, Crime Stoppers receives thousands of tips that, without the program, may have not been reported to police. Crime Stoppers is a program that is run independently from the police, but has strong relationships with the Edmonton Police Service, the RCMP, Camrose Police Service, and the Military Police. Crime Stoppers is funded through the support of individuals and businesses in the community. Every year, Crime Stoppers holds fundraisers to raise money for the cause, the largest being the annual Caught by Crime Stoppers Jail Bailout (www.caughtbycrimestoppers.com).
