The Connecticut Radio Information System, Inc. (CRIS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) radio reading service that has been serving people who are blind or print-challenged for more than three decades. We operate with a small staff and a large number of dedicated volunteers who provide voice talent.CRIS Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week featuring articles published in more than 70 newspapers and magazines, including award-winning children's magazines available online and on-demand.We provide a variety of audio recording services for people who have visual, learning, emotional, intellectual or physical disabilities. CRIS programs keep people informed about the world, the nation, Connecticut, and their local communities, and has proven to be a vital resource for individuals who are unable to access printed material. CRISKids and CRISKids for Schools offer teachers a low-cost tool to help improve student literacy and reading ability.CRIS offers several programs in addition for our traditional radio reading service:• CRISKids streams children's magazine into hospital rooms; as it is broadcast over the cable system, it is delivered right to the patient's bed• CRISAccess is a museum program that uses QR codes to deliver audio access to exhibit signage to any smartphone or device with a QR reader and audio capability• CRISKids for Schools is a program for students and educators that provides customized audio access to classroom materials for students with disabilities who cannot access printed materials alone successfully• Positive Futures is our new show/podcast coming in 2015 for people with disabilities who are considering entering the workforce or who are actively looking for workMore information about these programs and CRIS is available at www.crisradio.org/
