The Croatian Institute for BrainResearch (CIBR) is the mostprominent institution in thefield of neuroscience in the Republicof Croatia. The CIBR is an importantresearch and teaching institution atthe School of Medicine, University ofZagreb, and is also affiliated with theUniversity Clinical Hospital CenterZagreb (CHC Zagreb). At present, theCIBR co-ordinates the largestbiomedical research programme(encompassing 30 individualresearch grants) in Croatia.The CIBR is dedicated to promotingresearch and education in basic andclinical neuroscience, and has beeninstrumental in developing translationalapproaches in neuroscience,which resulted in several majortranslation programmes, namely:molecular basis of neurodegenerativeprocesses in cognitive disorders;developmental cognitive and mentaldisorders; and neuroimaging of thecentral nervous system. In addition,the CIBR has been focused on integrationof existing research facilities injoint translational researchprogrammes at the School ofMedicine, University of Zagreb.
