Cronix Tech is currently the world leader in utilizing radiation induced soft errors (RISE) as a method for radiation monitoring and detection. Ionizing radiation can physically change the charge of an object. What also relies on the charge of an object is the ones and zeros that make up the data of a digital device. Cronix Tech's software algorithm monitors a device for soft error, which are errors not caused by hardware defects. Once the algorithm eliminates other causes of errors, all that is left are errors caused by RISE. As the count of RISE increases, the algorithm can then alert the user that they are near a radioactive source.Research is currently ongoing at Cronix Tech to turn this relative radiation measurement into absolute radiation measurement that can accurately measure the amount of radiation one is exposed to.
