Music - Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
The Crosstown Community Band (XTB) is truly a community band. Our musicians come from a variety of backgrounds and interests. This is reflected in the broad range of musical genres and styles we enjoy playing. XTB is very responsive to the requests from our performing venues. Many of the summer concerts in the parks are theme-oriented; others serve a specific group's heritage, playing both traditional and contemporary pieces, as was performed for FinnFest 2017 at Orchestra Hall. Our annual holiday concerts are a favorite for audiences and band members alike with classics like "Sleigh Ride", and contemporary jazzy pieces like "All I Want for Christmas is You."XTB had its first rehearsal in June, 2011. Today, the informal and fun group has 29 members and is looking to grow. All adult musicians able to play at at least high school level, including high school students with parental consent, are welcome to join in the fun. The band practices at Richfield Lutheran Church at 8 West 60th Street in Southwest Minneapolis, most Monday nights from 7 - 9pm. The band is directed by Preston Weber.
