To encourage undergraduate participation in authentic scientific research and to increase persistence in STEM disciplines, CUNY is funding mentored laboratory experiences for CUNY community college students over a one-year period.During the program year, participating students will receive 320 hours of mentoring from faculty members while working on a unique research project and participate in programming offered at their campuses, including sessions on laboratory safety, public speaking and poster preparation. Each year, the program culminates in a summer symposium at John Jay College where students display and present their work to peers and mentors from all over CUNY. Selected students will be chosen to deliver Kingsborough's oral presentation at the event.
