Aviation & Aerospace - Long Beach, CA, United States
Welcome to the CSULB Beach Launch Team LinkdIn page. We originally stem from a previous rocket program known as California Launch Education Initiative (aka CALVEIN) that was founded by the school and a private company called Garvey Spacecraft Corporation (now known as Vector Space Systems) in 2001. During the majority of our history, we were funded via commercial, government, and academia contracts. This is our first year designing, developing, and building a rocket for the purpose of competing. The competition that we will be entering is called the FAR/MARS prize competition and it is being co-hosted by the Friends of Amateur Rocketry and the Mars Society. Our core team consists of about 19 students in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and chemical engineering. The rest of the team consists of 20 assistants and new members. Our program has been and is dedicated to building only liquid fuel rockets and this is what has allowed our school to stand out from the rest of the university rocket clubs which primarily do solid fuel rockets. We are divided into seven groups: avionics, propulsion, engine, structures, recovery, launch control, and GSE.Currently, most of the team members here at CSULB completing there undergrad or graduate degree.
