Curiosity Magazine is a magazine for the conscious traveler. It's for those who want to know–really know–about the world around them. It is entirely possible to visit a place, see its sights, eat its food, have a lovely trip, and miss out entirely on the bigger picture. Here, we focus on that bigger picture; on history, politics, and context. The street art in Barcelona becomes more beautiful once you understand the current political climate. Deep fried pizza in Naples becomes more interesting once you know its origins. Appreciation for artifacts in the Egyptian Museum changes when you think about looting during the Arab Spring, just as respect for a tranquil temple in northern Iraq increases when you learn about recent violence.Curiosity Magazine's readers are, well, curious. They're curious about backgrounds, politics, ingredients, and people. They love stories. They ask questions. They look for local insight. They try to gain perspective. They want to be immersed in a place. They don't have to be well traveled, but they aim to travel well. At Curiosity Magazine, we want to fill the world with better travelers. We tell stories about places and issues written by the people living in and experiencing them. No parachute travel stories–we do our best to highlight local voices love the stories we get to hear. We also pay our writers. Journalism is a tough, often thankless job. Many journalists and writers do the work because they love it, and many publications take advantage of that.
