Established in 1976 by Pat Ferriter and Sean O'Callaghan, Cork Truck Services had humble origins, starting out in a small shed in Gerald Griffith Street, Blackpool, Cork. Primarily specialising in the repair of forklifts, the duo were awarded the Hyster franchise in the late 70's, giving them their first break, bringing with it business from their first large customers including Irish Steel, Irish Industrial Fertilisers and Irish Rail. Their solid performance in servicing the needs of customers meant that they quickly outgrew their premises, requiring a move to a larger garage at Cobh Cross. In 1985, we were offered the dealership for DAF trucks and went on to form sister company DAF Truck Services Cork Ltd. Staff levels increased, growing from 2 to 15, to include sales, mechanics, stores and administrative personnel. In 1991, with the truck business continuing to grow, the company had our next move to Tramore Road in Cork, a move which allowed their workshop and stores area to increase in size threefold and offered significant onsite parking for new and used vehicles, promoting further growth. The 1990s was a period of consolidated company growth, with the addition of several large customers being a true testament to the company's quality of service. Outgrowing the premises once again, Truck Services sought out a new greenfield site, eventually locating one at Kilnap, on the Old Mallow Road in 2002. Over an 18 month period, a purpose-built facility was developed at this excellent location, allowing for ease of movement for customers, due to its proximity to the main Cork-Limerick road. 2009 saw a new area of growth for the company with the addition of an after sales franchise for Mercedes-Benz. With an economy in crisis, Cork Truck Services worked solidly to maintain business levels from 2009 to 2013. In 2014, the Mercedes-Benz light commercial franchise was added to our portfolio.
