Darkstrand was formed to commercialize the 15,000-mile next generation hyper-speed, supercomputing optical network known as the National LambdaRail ("NLR"). NLR was formed by a consortium of U.S. universities, scientific organizations and regional operating networks (RONs) that deployed this infrastructure to advance networking research and, in the process, enable next-generation applications in science, engineering and medicine.
