Darshanam is a unit of ICA Gallery that seeks to promote the art of Pichwai at a time when this art-form is dying, with only a few hundred artists practicing this form of art all over the country. It should suffice to say that in the present market where Pichwais are reproduced in chemical and poster colours.ICA Gallery's vision is to maintain the authenticity of this tradition by implementing the age-old process of using natural pigments, to ensure that art connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike are treated to this exquisite art-form through the ages. A Brief History of our Collection ICA Gallery's Pichwai collection, under the brand Darshanam, has its origins in a workshop started under the tutelage of Late Shri Radhamohan Bansal in the early 1950s, when he had gathered traditional Rajasthani artisans trained in the courtly and ritualistic arts of miniature making, in an endeavour to keep the tradition alive. Now in its third generation, the collection continues to thrive under the patronage of Vijendra Bansal, son of Late Shri Radhamohan Bansal, and Abhinav Bansal, grandson of the former and founder of ICA Gallery, Jaipur. In here, artisans from the same lineage, complete with the specialised knowledge of making pigments from stone, reprise the magic of their predecessors.
