Dashlight began life as Dashlight Systems, LLC in January 2003. The goal of the company was to manage intellectual property (IP) created by its founders in the field of wireless sensor technologies. In May 2004, Dashlight acquired the controlling interest in Open Interface North America, Inc., (OINA) as a way to further the company's managed inventions. From that day forward Dashlight worked with the minority shareholders to build a successful software company.Open Interface became one of the most prolific Bluetooth software companies in the world with software ported to more than 50 silicon platforms, and some of the most coveted products ever created including products for almost every major handset manufacturer, including products for Bose, Bang & Olufsen, Sony, Apple (iPhone) and many others.Dashlight sold its controlling interest in OINA to Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, Inc. in December 2007 along with the related IP held by Dashlight. Dashlight continues to create new and different IP, and explore new technologies that fit the core expertise of Dashlight partners. The primary focus remains consumer electronics related technologies.
