Waste/Recycling/Environmental - Bainbridge Island, WA, US
Benjamin Harrison and Megan Rohrssen founded the Data Engagement & Access Project in September, 2019 in response to several sympathetic concerns, principally the underutilization of publicly-funded environmental data, trends in formal and informal education, and heightened awareness of both established and emerging environmental problems that impact people's health and happiness.Environmental data provides limitless opportunities to build numeracy, soft skills, and civic empowerment, while learning science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and core ideas. We believe that learning to interpret and understand data from their own local environments will further empower students and communities to take action on their own concerns. We are developing programs to support education, to conduct research in educational strategies and the collection and use of environmental data, and to support community science. We'd love to discuss our ideas with you, and to listen to any experiences and perspectives you would like to share. Please feel free to get in touch, either in person or by sending a note to contact_us@envdata.org.
