The Data Privacy Brasil Research Association ("Data Privacy Brasil") is a non-profit civil entity based in São Paulo. The organization is dedicated to the interface between protection of personal data, technology and fundamental rights, producing research and advocacy actions before the Justice system, legislative bodies and government. Based on an Ethical Financing and Transparency Policy, the association develops strategic research projects in the protection of personal data, mobilizing knowledge that can help regulators, judges and legal professionals to deal with complex issues that require in-depth knowledge about how technologies and systems socio-technical issues affect fundamental rights. The Association is funded by international philanthropies such as the Ford Foundation, Open Society Foundations and AccessNow. The Association is directed by Bruno R. Bioni and Rafael A. F. Zanatta. The Advisory Council is formed by Virgílio Almeida (UFMG / Harvard), Cecília Olliveira (The Intercept Brasil), Marília Monteiro (Nubank), Renato Leite Monteiro (Twitter), Carlos Alonso Affonso (NUPEF), Fernanda Bruno (Media Lab / UFRJ) and Fernanda Campagnucci (Open Knowledge Brasil).
