The City of Dayton established the Human Relations Council in May of 1962 to keep peace, order and harmony among the residents and visitors of Dayton, Ohio. The HRC promotes peace, goodwill, harmony and works to ensure equal treatment and opportunity for all.The HRC's mission is carried out by a full-time staff, and a ten-member Board of Directors. The HRC enforces civil rights; provides business and technical assistance to minority-owned, woman-owned and small disadvantaged businesses; and administers community relations initiatives that promote and maintain peace, goodwill and harmony; assists in reducing inter-group tensions, and ensures equality of treatment and opportunity to all who live, work, play, and gather in the City of Dayton.The services and advice of the Council are available to individuals, corporations and organizations in the Greater Dayton area.
