When we work, when we relax, whenever we keep in touch with our loved ones; somewhere not too far away, a whirring server in a strange-looking building is quietly making our modern world possible.As an asset class, the data centre sector is barely a teenager. In fact, most development has only occurred in the past five to seven years. And yet, in terms of capital invested, Data Centres are rapidly approaching Offices as the number one asset class in terms of annual investment.But despite its growing importance, information on data centres has always been difficult to come by. Research had historically focused only on a small number of companies and markets. Growing opportunities were being ignored; and data, which did not fit the model, was overlooked.Add to that confusion, different metrics and wording being used to describe the same subject matter from region to region. In short there was no comprehensive and reliable source of sector information anywhere.That's what gave us the idea to build DC Byte. To make the biggest, most important asset class of our time more accessible and better understood. To provide standardised global metrics to allow for comparison. And to build a platform that enables our users to make best use of our data and to make their own working lives easier.
