Deakin was founded in 22nd June 2004 as a financial planning firm. Deakin was known as "Deakin Wealth Solution". In 2006, Deakin restructured the core business, and moved from financial planning to focus on behavioral finance and applied psychology. Deakin is then officially known as "Deakin International Sdn Bhd", aims to serve and support the financial services industry. Deakin's pioneer business line is the ultimate solution to manage financial risk tolerance – FinaMetrica (Psychometric Financial Risk Profiling).In 2007, Deakin created another major milestone when it was granted as one of the accredited organizations providing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for the Securities Commission. With the approval, Deakin has become the first CPE provider that specializes in Behavioral Finance programs. Today, Deakin's business partners include FinaMetrica, financial institutions, academic institutions, and the regulators.
