Debi van Zyl is a Los Angeles-based exhibition designer who has worked extensively throughout Southern California. She has worked as part of a team at numerous institutions including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Huntington Library, the Autry National Center, and The Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology, as well as nature and cultural centers, including the Hi-Desert Nature Museum, San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, the Goleta Historical Society, and the South Coast Watershed Resource Center. Trained as an architect, she brings a thorough understanding of building and materiality to her work, which ranges from overall exhibition design and layout, to showcase design and fabrication coordination. She has acted as consultant as well as designer on exhibitions, installations and environmental signage projects. Working at a variety of scales and levels of detail, Debi strives towards creating environments that respond to their contexts, the environment, and their visitors.
