Deep Root Distribution, founded by brothers Jack and Jeremiah Ciudaj, markets Deep Root Irrigation (DRI), a device that has been found to reduce irrigation water consumption by 61.51% versus surface drip systems. It does so by delivering water directly to the root zone, avoiding loss to evaporation and runoff. This results in a similar reduction in energy consumption for pumping the water.DRI also reduces use of fertilizer by delivering it directly to the root zone, and does not create the moist conditions that attract weeds, fungus, and pests. Consequently, even as DRI reduces maintenance costs compared to surface watering methods, it promotes healthy, disease-resistant vines, shrubs, and trees. These outcomes contributed to DRI being named among the Top Ten New Products at the 2015 World Ag Expo.
