Demolition for Design (D4D) disrupts the ecosystem of the built environment by mapping and auditing the materials of buildings ready to be demolished and connecting demolition experts, and their materials, with engineers, architects and upcycling manufacturers. In doing so, it not only diverts construction waste from landfill into new reuse and upcycling markets; but also improves the safety of building demolition. The D4D platform has three offerings: DATA PROCESSING: drone operators lease our data processing so they can scan buildings awaiting demolition. The drones use Reality Capture to consolidate data including materials, toxicity levels, geographic location, dimensions and volumes. D4D DATABASE: The D4D Database or ‘Google of demolition', archives the data from the drone and disseminates it to manufacturers requiring recyclable materials. It helps manufacturers predict availability, judge quality and locate materials both locally, interstate and globally. BIM PLUGIN: through a BIM (Building Information Modelling) plugin our database is shared with architects, engineers and construction contractors, allowing them to design from demolition. Demolition companies can also access the 3D render of the building to refine demolition processes and bring down buildings more safely.
