The Department of Mathematics and Informatics (DMI) in Kragujevac was established in 1976, and since then has been one of the leading education and research institutions in the fields of mathematics and computer science in Serbia.\ \Through six study programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels the department's teaching process has been organised according to the latest educational and research trends.\\The DMI aims to develop fundamental research in different fields of theoretical mathematics and to achieve a synergy between mathematics and its applications in computer science. This synergy results in the development of mathematical research through interdisciplinary exploration, particularly in mathematical modelling and computer simulations, high performance computing and optimization. Through collaboration with other institutions the DMI helps to develop computational methods and software for various real-world problems.\ \Furthermore, the department publishes a biannual scientific journal named the Kragujevac Journal of Mathematics.
