The Department of Information Technology was started in the year 1998. The intake of the department is 120. The department got accreditation by National Board of Accreditation in 2007 and reaccreditation in 2012. Once again it is provisionally accredited for 3 years under OBE in the year 2016 and got 4th time accreditation under OBE Tier 1 in 2019 for 3 academic years. The Department has 23 eminent faculty among them 10 are having with Ph.D - Doctorate degrees, 13 are having M.Tech degrees in CSE, IT, IST and Software Engineering. The Department has 3 Professors, 1 Associate Professor 1 Senior Assistant Professor and 18 Assistant Professors. The department is conducting Infosys-campus connect programme to train the students so as to make them industry ready. NPTEL online certification course and IIT Bombay Spoken tutorials are initiated in the institute and many from IT department were certified in various courses.AICTE has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 7.25 Lakhs to establish Entrepreneurship Development Cell coordinated by Dr.J.Rajendra Prasad, former Head of IT. DST New Delhi Sanctioned an amount of Rs. 6 Lakhs to Dr.B.V.Subba Rao,Professor and Head of IT for Big Data Initiative under BDI-Division of DST. Dr D Kavitha, Dr. Y Suresh, Dr. K.Pavan kumar got minor research projects from UGC. Faculty of IT have published 8 patents and filed another 3 patents. All the faculty members are enthusiastically involved in research activities. The faculty published more than 125 research articles in various conferences, national and international journals.The Department is periodically organizing seminars, conferences, faculty development programs, workshops and guest lecturers for the benefit of both the students and the staff. All Passed out students from the department got more than 80% placements.
