Non-Profit - London, ENG, UK
Deptford Reach is a dynamic five-day crisis intervention centre for vulnerable, homeless, and marginalised members of the community in South East London. The beneficiaries of our services are often made vulnerable due to homelessness or immigrant and refugee status, or suffer from multiple and complex problems such as mental health issues, substance abuse, or ex-offender status. By providing opportunities for development through advice, information, legal assistance, counselling, training, and education, we aim to empower the service users to overcome their difficulties, build their self-esteem, and take responsibility for their lives. We aim to tackle social exclusion and homelessness by: 1. The provision of a well-structured educational programme that promotes both physical and mental health and well-being and gives employment and volunteering opportunities to homeless and vulnerable members of the community; 2. Reducing the risk of our vulnerable clients becoming both victims of, and perpetrators of street crime, by providing a safe, warm environment in which they can access subsided food, medical care and a range of support services including those that deal with issues of substance dependency; 3. Helping people move on and rebuild their lives – creating routes back into education, training, employment and meaningful activities all under one roof. Our objectives are to work towards ending the cycle of poverty by helping people rebuild their lives.
