Beautiful & Sombre, Depth of Scye is a reflection of the two creators' backgrounds and identities intertwined. Lifelong long friends Rebecca Tannant and Caleb Barnett bring seemingly conflicting ideologies to the brand and complement each other in a way that feels fluid and organic. Rebecca brings an eye of detail and air of sophistication from her formal training and background in garment construction and fashion design, while Caleb, with a background as a graphic artist draws from neo expressionist painters and punks of old with a "throw caution to the wind" approach to his work. The pair draws inspiration from various references such as Victorian era fashion, Japanese deconstructionists, culture, music and film, while employing a hands on approach to constructing garments in a way that is both spontaneous and methodical. Opting to stray away from the confines of a seasonal approach to fashion production, Depth of Scye focus rather on a mixture of smalls runs and one off garments that fit the designers production means.
