The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Environment) serves as the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations, and Environment) for all matters pertaining to environmental protection, compliance, restoration, and technology, and management of natural, historical and cultural resources for Department of Navy (DON) activities worldwide.The DASN (Environment) is the DON liaison for the following groups and agencies:- President's Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ)- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service- Various environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)- Numerous other organizations and task forceDASN Environment's program elements, including Environmental Restoration, Environmental Quality (Compliance, Conservation, and Pollution Prevention), Environmental Technology, and Historical Preservation, comprise a total annual program of over $1 billion.The DASN Environment provides policy, direction and oversight for program elements within the Department of Navy (Navy and Marine Corps) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
