Computer & Network Security - Strongsville, Ohio, United States
DerbyCon isn't just another security conference. We've taken the best elements from all the conferences we've ever been to and put them into one. DerbyCon is a place you can call home, where you can meet each other, party, and learn. Our goal is to create a fun environment where the security community can come together to share ideas and concepts. Whether you know Linux, how to program, are established in security, are a hobbyist, or are trying to break into INFOSEC, the idea of DerbyCon is to promote learning and strengthen the community. We are a community of peers learning from one another.Welcome to the family! How it Started:DerbyCon started originally through a group of us getting together and hanging and sharing ideas. Martin Bos, Dave Kennedy, Alex Kah, and Adrian Crenshaw were some of the original folks that all met and got together at a pizza shop after a free Metasploit class (started by Adrian) in Louisville and afterwards, we all talked about starting a conference. A year later, we hoped to get at least 400 people and ended up getting over a 1,000. We wanted to create a conference that was welcoming to everyone, that shared our family values and hospitality. A welcoming conference where everyone was on the same level – no rockstars or elites, just a group of friends hanging together to share and learn from one another; a conference that got back to the roots of learning, collaborating, and sharing. We are a group that does this conference for fun, in our spare time, and for the betterment of the security industry. Each year we make the conference better by learning, but most importantly because of the folks who make DerbyCon possible – that's you. From the attendees, to the staff, security, and speakers, DerbyCon is amazing because of the people.
