The Desautels micro-Finance Competition (DFC) is an annual business competition under the Management Undergraduate Society of McGill University. The competition was founded in the year 2015 through the vision of equipping students with practical business management skills while increasing awareness about micro-finance as a sustainable innovative method of global development. DFC 2016-17 will be launching September 27th.The competition has two stages: Stage 1: Teams submit a mini start-up proposal based on a $100 budget. Feasible proposals will be approved for a risk-free loan of $100 and advance to stage 2. Stage 2: Teams will have one week to sell their product, service or idea to the McGill community. The businesses created will be professionally judged based on sustainability, ingenuity and, profitability with winners in multiple categories. Winners will receive a cash prize. All profits raised throughout the competition will be invested into real micro-finance projects abroad.By combining strategic management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, DFC hopes to train students at McGill while contributing to sustainable economic development globally.
