'Every Picture Tells a Story, don't it?' So goes the words of the song. Images carry messages that need no translation. Desimage is my vehicle for creating images that can carry meaning, emotion and impact. This sits well alongside my classic landscape pictures. The idea is to take the crux of the issue and make a picture. this 'essence-to-image' approach is best suited to the fast moving worlds of commerce, campaigns and social media.The present, Arts Council England funded project asks questions about how sustainable our cities are. In 'Unsustainable Cities?' images present infrastructure that works, and catastrophic failures such as Chernobyl.The Exhibition will run in November this year, at the Royal Geographical Society, in London. Thanks to additional support from Hayfield, there will be a special evening event. Look out for date, and contact me for an invite.This Visual Essay builds on earlier work undertaken for Earthwatch in Mongolia (2009), and work with London's UCL on Urban Resilience (2012).
