Centered in Miami, Detect to Prevent is an official non-profit organization that aims to combat the prevalence of vision disorders globally. Using simple and portable screening methods, our organization travels to low-income and less fortunate areas for the purpose of detecting vision deficiencies and providing care to those who need it. Most recently, we have partnered with LionHouse to carry out a series of screenings in different schools around the area, including schools who provide care for special need children. As part of another program, we partnered with OneSight for a screening in Fishkill, New York. Our experience with OneSight provided us with the opportunity to partake in screenings of over 200 children a day, delivering free glasses to those who needed them. Through their clinic, OneSight provided us with valuable insights for the future growth of our individual screenings locallyTo perform our screenings, we rely on the portable, 2WIN refractor as well as other equipments and resources that can contribute to the process. With volunteer doctors, we provide children with official prescriptions and orders for glasses to fix their vision. For less fortunate programs and communities, Detect to Prevent works on providing free detection and care to children of young ages for the purpose of preventing the development of grave vision disorders in the future.
