DCCH supports responsible, community-focused economic development in Columbia Heights by being connected to our shared past, understanding current needs, and working toward an inclusive, successful future. Established in 1984 as a non-profit advocacy platform to raise concerns and generate public debate about gentrification in DC, we have used smart strategies to implement neighborhood revitalization projects that benefit low- and moderate-income households and the broader community in Washington, DC. We do this by increasing the number of local businesses and retail options, responding to unmet community needs, increasing employment opportunities, and expanding affordable housing in the city.
