Devorto is building an aircraft that never has to land. Solar-powered aircraft provide better capabilities than satellite networks, but for the cost and logistics of operating an unmanned system.While existing high-altitude pseudo-satellite (HAPS) attempts can only operate under ideal solar conditions, Devorto is developing a novel architecture called the Tethered Uni-Rotor Network (TURN). Designed and patented by a former NASA engineer, and with R&D funding from NASA and the US Air Force, this unconventional approach is 10X more efficient than fixed-wing without sacrificing vertical takeoff.Persistent flight within the stratosphere opens the doors to global Internet connectivity, broadband speed telecom relay hubs, and unprecedented environmental/weather monitoring capabilities.
