Look forward to April 2021 for our full market launch!Diaspora Learning Centre's (DLC) mission is to reduce educational inequality for black youth in Canada and beyond by providing access to uniquely affordable quality tutoring and education. This is achieved by virtually connecting young black learners in Canada with highly skilled, well-educated and accredited teachers in Africa. The main goal at DLC is to provide a top-level of personalized tutoring services that are not commonly accessible to the black community.As research suggests, black students are made to succeed in an education system categorizes them as low-achievers and fails to recognize their academic potential. Practices such as academic streaming, disparities in special education and gifted programs, grade retention practices, school suspensions and even teacher-guidance counsellor recommendations have widened these gaps. Our goal is to intervene at that crucial point of child's growth by offering access to high quality tutoring services that any working household can afford. Diaspora Learning Centre offers courses and tutoring in academic basics and languages for children and youth, from pre-kindergarten all the way to secondary school. We also offer courses in home languages such as Igbo and Yoruba as research shows that education in home languages improves overall academic performance and helps students acclimate and learn better.Our mentorship and teaching models will connect black students with leaders and educators from their communities and the wider diaspora.
