The Heritage Foundation is a non-profit company established in 2002. Our primary aim to advocate for the conservation of heritage resources that are at risk, through public programs and promotion. We have a wide focus, but specifically concentrate on heritage resources deemed to be important to the broad Afrikaans-speaking South African community. The Heritage Foundation owns, conserves, and manages several sites throughout South Africa. Our archive serves as a repository for important historical documents that include the Voortrekker Monument archive and collections of some notable South African individuals and organisations. The Heritage Foundation's research library is a valuable information resource for cultural-historical and family research. The South African Genealogical Society's Transvaal Branch is headquartered at the library. The Foundation's museum collection contains excellent examples of material culture from the South African War, as well as Voortrekker Monument memoribilia that spans the entire history of the this important Grade I National Heritage Site. The Heritage Foundation is wholly dependant on donations and funding. We receive no state subsidy. To supplement our income, we also undertake various consulting projects on a small scale.
