Digital Circus is a Ministry of Education Accredited PLD Provider specialising in Digital Technologies and provides facilitators who are available to deliver centrally-funded PLD.With the announcement that Digital Technology is to be fully integrated into the New Zealand Curriculum in 2018, the prospect of schools addressing the Digital Fluency needs of students can be a daunting process. For teachers to take a leap across the digital divide to embrace the new and ever-changing contextualised, blended learning environment requires support and encouragement in those important first steps and beyond. Small to medium schools can face considerable barriers to implementing new curriculum areas, such as possessing a specialist teacher, facing the prospect of multi-level classes or constrained by limited budgets.Computational thinking is increasingly being viewed as an important ingredient in STEM learning in primary and secondary education. Most schools are trying to prepare students for the future by continuing what was done in the past. While many schools encourage educational innovation, the shortage of teachers with the necessary skills means that many students miss out on the chance to develop confidence and to spark an interest in science, technology, engineering, maths, and art and learning through creating and making.
