DignifID Animals Foundation (DignifID) is a non-profit organisation that provides the first universal, legitimate digital identity and credentials for animals and their guardians (humans or organisations). These animal IDs and credentials, e.g. names, age, veterinary history, etc., are issued digitally, and stored securely in a digital wallet (or an app) on the guardians' smartphones. Nowadays, more and more people we know treat our pets like family members all over the world. However, currently there is no legitimate or universal identity (ID) system for animals to verify their unique identities and their relationship with us, or to acknowledge their social values. Also, animals are often regarded as "things," and typically classified as "property" legally in most countries. This can make them vulnerable to being treated as disposable or insentient in our society.By connecting a global community of animal lovers via a digital identity network, together we can create a world where identity of animals is cherished. We celebrate their inherent worth and individuality, while promoting the well-being of animals and their guardians through quality products and services provided by ethical pet care organisations around the world. Unlike typical apps, the digital identity technology ensures that all the personal data are controlled and managed by the guardians instead of owned by commercial companies to protect our privacy and avoid data abuse.
