The Dignity in Difference Project envisions a world where there is a dignified exchange of ideas and opinions while building inclusive identities and global citizenship. It is soon to launch its flagship Research Fellowship on creating Safe Digital Space, centered around media literacy and countering hate speech in the South Asian region. https://www.dignityindifference.org/ The Dignity in Difference team comprises Fellows of ALLY (Amplifying Leadership of Local Youth) in Prevention of Violent Extremism https://unoy.org/project/ally/, who are part of the 30-month project funded by the EU. It was launched in March 2020 and is being implemented by Finn Church Aid/Network and UNOY with a consortium of partners: Youth Development Foundation, Sri Lanka Unites, Rural Development Society, and Centre for Communication and Development. As a part of the fellowship, the DID team underwent a multi-phased regional capacity development training to gain appropriate skills for transforming conflicts, addressing the factors contributing to violence, and preventing violent extremism in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and regionally in South Asia. The targeted means include raising awareness, mobilising the community and engaging with diverse stakeholders including other youth, decision-makers, religious actors and the media to promote a culture of peace and constructive narratives on diversity. The focus is also towards creating an early warning working group of youth peacebuilders against violent extremist narratives The peacebuilders will further be participating in regional advocacy missions and platforms to advocate for designing and implementing youth sensitive and youth inclusive policy frameworks. Furthermore, they will be tasked with creating strategies and action plans to transform the conflicts and address factors of violence, ultimately in the global prevention of violent extremism.
