It was 2011 and two school friends, Greg Whitfield and Martin Rose, started an entrepreneurial journey that would ultimately aim to revolutionise the restaurant industry in South Africa. By working closely with restaurants across the country they developed the back-end reservation software that has become commonplace in restaurants from the tip of the Cape Peninsula to as far north as Phalaborwa (and let's not forget beyond that as well).The first six years were dedicated to understanding the needs of restaurants and their patrons, and in turn to develop a streamlined and simple 360 degree online reservation experience. All of this has in turn culminated in the launch of the consumer facing app in early 2018, allowing consumers to access the live availability of 1000s of Dineplan restaurant clients and make instant bookings at any of these restaurants. Because of the many restaurants using the Dineplan software to capture and manage their reservations, Dineplan knows each restaurant's available tables at any time, and consumers are able to search for restaurants using this availability information - providing a first and only service of its kind in South Africa.
