We are one of 42 dioceses in the Church of England. The Diocese of Chester covers an area of 1025 square miles, approximately the old Victorian County of Chester, including parts which subsequently became absorbed into Merseyside and Greater Manchester. The Rivers Mersey and Tame approximately delineate the boundary with Liverpool and Manchester. The diocese is divided into two Archdeaconries, Chester and Macclesfield. The Archdeaconry of Chester contains nine deaneries: Birkenhead, Chester Frodsham, Great Budworth, Malpas, Middlewich, Wallasey, Wirral North and Wirral South. The Archdeaconry of Macclesfield contains nine Deaneries: Bowden, Chadkirk, Cheadle, Congleton, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Mottram, Nantwich, and Stockport. The administrative offices are based at Daresbury Business Park, Warrington.
