The Disabled Australian Lawyers Association (DALA) is a national organisation co-founded by Natalie Wade, Ella Alexander and Abbey Dalton. It aims to bring together disabled legal practitioners, law academics and law students to share their experiences and collectively advocate for greater representation and inclusion of disabled people in the legal profession.This public page is for both disabled lawyers and allies; a space for discussion and promotion of all things related to the inclusion of disabled lawyers in the legal profession. A note on language: both person-first ("person with a disability") and identity-first ("disabled person") language is appropriate to describe the disability community. As an association created by disabled people, for disabled people, we have chosen to use identity-first language in naming this organisation.We want to emphasise disability as a trait that is a source of pride and an integral part of our identity as legal professionals.
