Dye it Yourself ! We are a state of the art, one of a kind workshop where you can learn the art of dyeing, block printing and Shibori tie dye, all with natural colors. The workshop takes you on a journey, where you get to learn about the history of dyeing and assimilate the fundamentals of natural dyeing. Together, we will explore the existence of natural colors and soak in techniques to extract the yellows, orange, brown, pink, blue, red and greens from around us. Divided into three different segments for Block Printing, Shibori Tie Dye, Natural Dyeing, DIY introduces you to a contemporary and unique world of dyeing traditions. Dating back to more than 5000 years, Dyeing has been one of the most primitive forms of art known to mankind. Humans discovered that there were many unique options to give color to the cloth, there in they started dipping the clothes into colored dyes to get a beautiful natural colored outfit. As man evolved, we made scientific achievements and started synthesizing these colors from chemicals. Today thousands of years later, the textile industry has become the major source of pollution throughout the world. Synthetic colors account for a huge chunk of this pollution. At DIY, our main objective is to revive the lost art of dyeing with natural ingredients and to make it readily available for everyone. And therein we aim to reduce the impact of pollution caused by the chemical laden industry. To do so, we must take a step back and acquaint ourselves with the lost art of natural dyeing.
