Djado Gold PLC is a private UK-registered gold exploration company focused on the Djado Gold Property, in the largely unexplored northeastern part of the Republic of Niger. The Djado Gold Property consists of six permits covering 2,920.1 sq km and a significant amount of an area which is known as the Djado Goldfield.Between April 2014 and February 2017, the Djado Goldfield was subject to a 1850s California-style gold rush. Reports suggest that more than 11,000 artisanal miners were active at the beginning of 2017, recovering up to 20 grams of gold each per day. It is also reported that, before the Djado Goldfield was closed by the Niger Government in February 2017, over 2.3m oz of gold was recovered.The Djado Gold Property potentially represents an important new gold district in the Precambrian rocks of the Tuareg Shield. The Tuareg Shield is a highly prolific, but materially under explored, Precambrian geological region which, despite the lack of exploration to date, has more than 600 documented gold occurrences, often with excellent high-grade gold grades.
