Civic & Social Organization - Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
A note from the founder;Since my MBBS days, I have been an entrepreneur with the vision to fast-track essential topics related to the field of medicine and make those available to medical students as well as to create a value proposition for courses like medical journalism, health management and public health so that doctors develop expertise beyond medical practice. With this objective, I founded Docfort Meducation Pvt Ltd in 2017.In Feb 2019, my company launched Docfort Pulse, a newsletter, with content generated by a group of medical professionals and students in Karnataka. The core group consisted of medical students in Bangalore who were taking a course in Medico-social journalism at Docfort Meducation. They interned with Pulse as well as with NewsTracker, the journalism arm of a Bournemouth University-UNESCO New Delhi research project to study how media in India reports sexual violence. It culminated in a 16-day national campaign in which Docfort's medical students stood out among the liberal arts students. Our journalism dean was present at UNESCO headquarters in New Delhi for the round table which discussed the way forward for the NewsTracker campaign this year. In October 2018, Docfort's medico-social journalism course was shortlisted for the BMJ South Asia Awards for Excellence in Medical Education. The objective has always been to involve our large pool of medical students from across colleges in various social causes, with good communication practices as key. We will raise the curtains for 2019 on April 26, by highlighting a unique way forward in organ and tissue donation, while using techniques of Professional Communication within the medical community to benefit the general public. Introducing NOTD 2019: the National Organ and Tissue Donation campaign by the medical community.
