Founded in 2012 - DFS is a fledgeling grass-roots community based animal welfare organisation seeking incorporation & registration as a tax-exempt charity.We originally formed on the Gold Coast (Queensland) and have formed other groups around S.E. Queensland, and will soon start our first interstate groups for New South Wales & Victoria.Our purpose is to focus on the human end of animal welfare issues while supporting other groups such as Animal Welfare League who provide much needed shelters & care for abandoned & unwanted animals needing re-homing.We wish to facilitate the creation of the next better, more knowledgeable & responsible generation of pet owners, by leveraging the existing interspecies relationship between humans & dogs.The idea is that every local community has its own Facebook page & group where they can discuss, share, organise & meet ... and in the background, we are working on projects to feed more resources into this network of communities.We aim to provide easier access to animal & pet information, products & services ... also to run local events & activities.We intend to remain largely commercially impartial, with the exception of giving some preferential promotion to our official sponsors; also that all businesses associated / promoted must be ethically & professionally operated.You can find us on Facebook here:www.facebook.com/DogFriendlySociety.GoldCoast.
