DogAbility Center is an all-volunteer organization and the only one of its kind on Long Island to invite participants to attend an innovative, all-inclusive program where a specialized canine-interactive experience is aligned with a participant's needs. Traditionally, canine-assisted therapy is offered by bringing qualified dogs into a variety of locations to visit with the people who are in need. DogAbility Center is the only location on Long Island where individuals are invited to visit our facility to engage with our certified dogs. Participants work with our skilled handlers while involved in one-on-one experiences including fundamentals of canine sports as well as learning about behavior/nutrition and veterinary care.Activities are designed for those individuals and/or groups who would benefit from education, recreation, socialization, inspiration and comfort as well as physical, emotional or psychological improvement. Participants include adults and children with and without special needs. DogAbility Center's many activities are also unique as no other program offers any such canine activities specifically geared to diverse target populations. The variety of activities are available to participants seven (7) days per week, all year long. DogAbility Center is centrally located on Long Island in close proximity to major highways. Entrances and parking at the center's location are also handicapped accessible.
