Doing Defies Depression is the trading name of a social enterprise which uses proceeds from an online gift store to subsidize services for people living with depression. We don't offer treatment for depression - we assume the people we work with have someone else taking care of that side of things! - but help people improve their quality of life NOW, instead of waiting until they're better. As well as operating the gift store, which specializes in beautiful and socially responsible items which are ideal gifts for someone going through depression, we offer short courses and individual coaching on "Living Well With Depression" and also one-off events around Australia. Our first event, a free laughter yoga workshop in January, was a huge success, and received excellent coverage in local media. We also have events planned for Adelaide, Perth, and Forster (NSW) later this year. On Wednesday 15 April, we are hosting a talk on "Food, Mood and Depression" by Rob Haala, dietitian and nutritionist, in Mount Waverley. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased here: http://www.doingdefiesdepression.com.au/events/food-mood-and-exerciseThe first of our low-cost "Living Well With Depression" courses starts on Friday 17 April at Power Neighbourhood House in Ashwood, Victoria. See our website (www.doingdefiesdepression.com.au) for more details.
