Dollars and Common Sense [DACS] develops and implements educational and informational programs that will promote financial literacy, awareness and self reliance in students of all ages, with the present focus on kindergarten [K] through 12th grade. These programs will inspire students to seek independence, dignity and purpose in their daily lives, armed with the necessary tools to support financial understanding and responsibility at the completion of their education.DACS is a 501(c) 3 non profit class room based program that will be provided on-site in a public school environment at no financial cost to the school systems. Teachers will not be expected or required to be burdened in their already busy schedules with additional responsibilities in this program.After extensive student testing, DACS has been invited into certain public school systems starting the fall semester of 2011. Upon evaluation of the results of this first year, it is our expectation to expand this specialized program into other schools in Western North Carolina.
