Dolprop develops a novel propulsion system for maritime vessels based on natures own design. Imagine if you could propel a 300 kg vessel. Through water at a speed of >25 mph while using less than 1 hp of power. A 300 kg dolphin is capable to reach speed up to 25 mph with an energy equivalent to one horsepower. Imagine if we could mimic nature? More people would be able to afford leisure boating thanks to increased fuel efficiency and the decreased cost due to smaller engines. Even small electrical engines would be sufficient enough to propel normal sized vessels. Combining these engines with solar panels the vessel could be self sufficient. Can it be done?
